Unfortunately, more than 400,000 children and adolescents below 20 are diagnosed with cancer every year, so in 2002 Childhood Cancer International (CCI) observed the International Childhood Cancer Day. International Childhood Cancer Day aims to provide care and support to all children and adolescents with cancer and to highlight the danger and impact of this deadly disease among children.

International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) theme for this year is ('Better Survival’ is achievable) as a part of the three campaigns launched in 2021 for ICCD, aligned with the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC).
Possible Signs & Symptoms of Cancer in Children
Early detection saves lives! When cancer is identified in the early stages, it is more likely to respond to effective treatment and result in a greater probability of survival and less suffering. Early symptoms for childhood cancer are often like those caused by much more common illnesses or injuries, and you must see a doctor if they have unusual signs or symptoms that do not go away, such as:
- An unusual lump or swelling
- Unexplained paleness and loss of energy
- Easy bruising or bleeding
- An ongoing pain in one area of the body
Limping - Unexplained fever or illness that doesn’t go away
- Frequent headaches, often with vomiting
- Sudden eye or vision changes
- Sudden unexplained weight loss
