According to Saudi laws, passengers of some airlines can take ZamZam water with them from Jeddah, Riyadh, or Dammam airports as part of the free baggage.

New limitations on taking holy ZamZam water outside of Saudi Arabia were made public as the nation tries to crack down on travelers who transport the drink out of the country by putting it in their baggage. Only travelers with valid Hajj or Umra visas are permitted to bring ZamZam water on flights leaving the country, according to the circular signed by the Executive Deputy President for Hajj and Umrah Affairs.

The authority in charge of running Jeddah Airports declared that new guidelines for handling ZamZam must be implemented in a circular sent to all airlines using the King Abdul Aziz International Airport and ground service companies. The circular further stated that the bottle that might be transported must adhere to strict guidelines and be a standard bottle with a five-liter capacity intended for air travel.
