Hamas militants launched a rocket attack from Gaza towards Tel Aviv, marking the first such assault in several months.
No immediate casualties or damages were reported in what appeared to be the first long-range rocket attack from Gaza since January.
However, sporadic rocket and mortar fire from Palestinian militants toward Israeli communities along the Gaza border has persisted.
Hamas's military wing claimed responsibility for the attack, which saw eight projectiles launched from the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Israeli forces recently conducted an incursion into this area.
Israel's Iron Dome defense system intercepted several incoming missiles, thwarting potential harm to civilian areas.
The incident reignites concerns over the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, with tensions escalating after months of relative calm. The conflict has already claimed thousands of Palestinian lives, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry, with the toll continuing to rise amidst renewed hostilities.
