The Central Bank of Kuwait has granted at least three banks permission to launch Google Pay, an electronic payment service that can be used on Android devices, in March, local newspaper Al-Rai reported.
The banks include Kuwait Finance House, anonymous sources related to the matter said.
The banks will start activating the payment service after supporting their customers' cards to be able to activate this service.
These banks have agreed to complete the requirements for equipping point-of-sale devices to receive payments using the Google Pay system.
Google Pay in Kuwait will be without collecting any fees from the banks activating the service, the sources said.
Similarly, Samsung Pay and Apple Pay e-payment services are already available in Kuwait.
