Liam Payne, former member of the global pop sensation One Direction, has died at the age of 31 following a fatal fall from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to state police, Payne was found dead in the hotel’s inner courtyard after emergency services responded to a distress call on Wednesday evening.

Emergency Response

Authorities were alerted about a man acting erratically, possibly under the influence, according to Alberto Crescenti, director of Buenos Aires Emergency Medical Services (SAME). Payne’s injuries were described as "incompatible with life," with Crescenti stating that he had fallen approximately 42 to 45 feet. Emergency responders arrived within seven minutes of the call, but Payne was pronounced dead on the spot. Crescenti told local media that there was no possibility of saving him by the time they arrived.

Payne’s Career and Legacy

Liam Payne rose to fame in 2010 as part of One Direction after competing on "The X Factor." The group, which also included Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, became one of the best-selling boy bands in history before announcing a hiatus in 2015. Afterward, Payne pursued a solo career, releasing hits like "Strip That Down" in 2017 and his album LP1 in 2019.

The incident occurred at the CasaSur hotel in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires, where Payne was reportedly staying.
