International leaders and envoys arrived in Kuwait on Sunday, Dec. 18 to offer their condolences for the passing of the late Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Middle Eastern Leaders Who Arrived in Kuwait to Offer Condolences
The new Emir of Kuwait and brother of the late Sheikh Nawaf, His Highness Sheikh received Middle Eastern leaders including:
- Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman
- Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani
- Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa
- Jordan's King Abdullah II
- Palestine's President Mahmoud Abbas
- Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani
- Tunisia's President Kais Saied
- Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi
- Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati
The Envoys that Arrived in Kuwait to Offer Condolences
The UAE's President's Representative Member of the UAE Higher Council and the Ruler of Fujairah Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammad Al-Sharqi arrived in Kuwait to offer their condolences to HH Sheikh Mishal.
The Iranian President's representative Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian also came to Kuwait to offer his condolences to the late Emir's brother and family.
Other officials who came to Kuwait to offer their condolences included the European Union Special Representative in the Gulf Luigi Di Maio and India's representative the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri.
Sheikh Nawaf's Passing and Funeral
The late Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, Dec. 16.
The late Emir was laid to rest during a private funeral ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 17 in the presence of close relatives.
Offices in Kuwait will be closed till Dec. 19 and the mourning period will extend for 40 days.
