Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has introduced audio and voice calls on the platform, so that X users can call their friends directly through the social media platform.
Only premium subscribers can make calls for the time being, nonetheless, all X users can receive calls.
The call feature is already available on Apple iOS and it will soon be available on Android as well.
X users can control who can call them through the settings in the direct messages.
The user that is receiving the call must have messaged you directly once before for the call to be made.
A recent policy update required Xusers to submit their biometric data as well as education and job histories.
Following the update, CEO of X Elon Musk announced that the X user would be able to make audio and video calls on the platform, on both iOS and Android, without having to share their phone numbers.
The new feature puts X in tough competition with other social media apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, which offer the same feature.
