Death Toll for Mangaf Fire Incident Reaches 41

Several workers have been injured in the fire accident that occurred on Wednesday morning.

A company labor camp in the Mangaf area of the Ahmedi governate in Kuwait caught fire on Wednesday, Jun. 12 and 41 individuals died in the incident.
The majority of the deceased individuals are of Indian nationality. Several individuals are injured because of the incident, including individuals in critical condition.
Many of the injured individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals for immediate medical treatment.
The fire incident occurred at 4:00 a.m. and it is suspected to be caused by a gas cylinder in the watchman's room.
It is reported that almost 160 workers were living in the labor camp.
The Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousuf Al-Sabah visited the site of the accident and directed the police to apprehend the owner of the building, the building's janitor, and the company owner whose workers lived in the building.
Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Adarsh Suwaika also visited the site and assured that all the necessary assistance would be provided to complete any formalities for the individuals admitted to the hospital.
Sheikh Fahad also assured that he has directed the Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) to launch immediate action against parties who have committed similar violations where large numbers of workers are forced to live in one residential building.
The authorities have also been directed to implement the necessary safety measures to reduce the chances of similar incidents in the future.
