Carlos Alcaraz put aside a poor beginning and finished strongly to bring an end to Novak Djokovic's impressive 34-match winning streak at Wimbledon. In a captivating and unpredictable final, Alcaraz defeated Djokovic with a score of 1-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, securing his first-ever championship at the All-England Club and his second Grand Slam trophy overall.
Carlos Alcaraz, the top-ranked player, prevented Novak Djokovic's bid for a record-tying eighth Wimbledon title, as well as his fifth consecutive championship at the grass-court tournament. Djokovic also was kept from claiming his 24th career major.
Rather than seeing 36-year-old Novak Djokovic of Serbia make history as the oldest male champion at Wimbledon in the Open era, it was 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz from Spain who claimed that distinction. Alcaraz became the third-youngest Wimbledon champion, while the age difference between the two players was the most significant in any men's Grand Slam final since 1974.
