The Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, was illuminated in blue, red, and white on Wednesday night to mark the 126th Philippine Independence Day.

The 828-meter tower showcased the Philippine flag, commemorating the country's declaration of independence on June 12, 1898, ending over 300 years of Spanish rule and becoming the first republic in Asia.

Significance for Filipino Expats

The event holds special significance for the UAE's large Filipino community, which numbers over 700,000, making it one of the largest expatriate groups in the country. 

50 Years of Diplomatic Relations

This year's celebration also marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and the Philippines, further emphasizing the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
