Australia Advances to the Super 8 Stage of T20 World Cup

After winning against Namibia by nine wickets and secured their spot in the next stage of the World Cup.

Australia has advanced to the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 after defeating Namibia in the group-stage match on Wednesday, Jun. 12.

The team won their third match by nine wickets at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Namibia batted first and Gerard Erasmus scored 36 runs for the team before they were all out at 72 runs. 

Australia's Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head chased the target of 73 runs in 5.4 overs only, leading their team to win and secure their spot in the Super 8 stage. 

Adam Zampa was named player of the match after taking four wickets in 12 balls at an economic rate of 3.00. He made history by becoming the first Australian male cricketer to take 100 wickets in the shortest format of international cricket. 

Namibia's next match is scheduled for Saturday, Jun. 15  against England. Australia's next match is scheduled for Sunday, Jun. 16 against Scotland. 

Other than Australia, South Africa has also secured their spot in the Super 8 phase.
