A new 14-meter artwork by Kuwaiti artist Ibrahim Shukrallah is bringing Kuwait’s timeless wedding traditions to life.
The vibrant painting intricately portrays the stages of a traditional Kuwaiti wedding, offering a stunning visual journey that starts with the engagement and ends with the groom’s ceremonial parade, or "Zafah," as the couple moves into their new home.
The painting, one of Shukrallah’s largest works, beautifully depicts each key moment: the Dazza (a symbolic gift given to the bride), the marriage contract known as "Melcha," and the Yelwa, a celebratory performance for the bride.
With bold colors and detailed lighting techniques, Shukrallah masterfully incorporates Kuwait’s cultural and environmental elements, making the painting not just an artwork, but a piece of historical documentation.
