UAE students aged 15 and can now work part-time in the country under a temporary visa scheme. According to the guidelines issued on the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation website, companies will need to apply for the 'juvenile work permits'.

This came as Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Trade, spoke to reporters on the sidelines of the UAE Projects of 50 event, which was held to announce the first set of plans under the initiative on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, Al Thani also announced the launch of a 'green visa' and a freelance visa.

So, what is needed for part-time work permit?

There's an AED 100 application fee, and an additional AED 500 once the approval comes through.

It will take one day to process and will be valid for a period "not exceeding one year". 

Documents needed for the permit are:

  1. The worker's valid passport copy

  2. Valid residence visa copy for the applicant

  3. The parent's/ guardian valid passport copy
  4. Valid residence visa copy for the parent/ guardian
  5. Application copy
  6. Contract copy
  7. A colour photograph with a white background of the worker
  8. A valid certificate of fitness issued from competent official health
  9. Written consent of the juvenile's parent or guardian
