A Kuwaiti ministerial committee has submitted a proposal to the Cabinet to allow expats to own investment residential properties in Kuwait.
The proposal specifies that an expat in Kuwait can own a residential apartment in an investment building, given that the buyer is a permanent and legal resident of Kuwait and no judgements have been issued against the person for violating honour or trust during the person's stay in Kuwait.
The proposal also demands that the apartment an expat purchases has to be allocated for residence to the buyer and his family. The apartment should not exceed 350 m² and the buyer cannot own another apartment upon purchasing the said apartment.
The proposal has been set forth to strengthen Kuwait's economy and attract investments in the economy.
